IMPORTING DUTY FREE ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO INTO UK

All personnel are to be aware that with immediate effect (23/04/10) the allowances for importation of duty free alcohol and tobacco into UK have changed. The allowances have been reduced and BFC SO Pt 3 No 49 Para 8 will be amended as follows:

Duty free alcohol and tobacco. The Fiscal Officer has ruled that the total individual allowance for export of alcohol and tobacco products purchased duty free from the Ermes Stores or Messes are restricted to the amount of one weekly ration ie:

200 Cigarettes
50 cigars or 100 cigarillos
250 gms of hand rolling tobacco
1 litre of imported spirit /Liqueur

Reasons for the amendment: The restriction will now be in line with the restrictions imposed by HM Revenue and Customs on the quantities allowed into the UK.
